Experience

S/Y Inukshuk

S/Y Inukshuk (Baltic Frers 107) – 2013 to present – Captain I joined Inukshuk shortly after her launch in Finland. I worked closely with the project manager and yard to complete the warranty list whist completing a full Mediterranean cruising season followed by 2 Caribbean seasons and summers in New England. Inukshuk was the showboat for the Monaco show 2013 and won design and style top industry awards. Inukshuk’s philosophy for cruising is “A 5* hotel service and the vessel to be maintained to ‘as new’ condition” while onboard I worked closely with the crew to exceed this expectation.

S/Y Nilaya

S/Y Nilaya (Baltic RP112) – 2010 to 2013 – Captain/Manager I was fortunate to be involved in this exciting project from design to realization. I worked with the owner and designers, shipyard and project manager to produce one of the leading Super Maxis in the world. After launching in 2010 I carried out a busy years shakedown, cruising and chartering in the med and Caribbean. I then worked together with the race crew and shore team to set the boat up for regattas. First we won class in the super yacht cup. After, we consecutively won the ‘IMA Super maxi class’ at the world championships for 2011 and 2012 and also gaining the title for line honors in the Rolex Volcano race. Whilst optimizing the boat, I also carried out a very busy luxury cruising itinerary. We cruised North Europe, Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, and Greece as well as the Caribbean chain from the BVI’s to Los Roques and the ABC’s .

S/Y Aqua Equinox (80)

S/Y Aqua Equinox (Swan Frers 80’) – 2007 to 2010 – Captain On Joining the Swan 80’ I was responsible for the day-to-day running of all the systems. From engine, generator, water maker servicing to the entire deck gear winch’s and rigging. This was a commercially flagged vessel with a busy charter and owner schedule. We sailed back-to-back Mediterranean and Caribbean seasons. This boat was run with a limited budget so I carried out most of the maintenance such as varnishing/painting/rigging/and all engineering and servicing in house.

S/Y Aqua Equinox (56)

S/Y Aqua Equinox (Swan Frers 56’) – 2005 to 2007 – Captain I joined the 56 in Holland to do a mainly cruising itinerary. We cruised the eastern and western Med, the Caribbean and the east coast of America. I was responsible for boat ‘set up’, maintenance and running of the program. Whilst onboard we also won the title of European Swan cup champion and later in 2006 the World championships in Sardinia.

Island Charters

Island Charters (Hamble & Isle of Wight) - 2001 to 2004 – Lead Skipper I began with the company doing inventory checks, valeting and all levels of maintenance. My responsibilities included all areas. From servicing toilets to stripping winch’s and engine repairs/service. This gave me the unique opportunity to sail and dock 100’s of boats a month for the top charter company in the UK at that time. I worked my way up to become lead skipper. This involved entertaining corporate charterers. There were regularly up to 30 boats sailing in an event, starting from 33 up to 55ft. I was responsible for all the boat winterization and summer prep for all the systems, working closely with the team of skippers.

Necker Island

Necker Island (BVI Private Island for Sir Richard Branson) 2004 My responsibilities on Necker included the running of the watersports facility, Airport pickups in the 3 powerboats with up to 500hp. Through the winter season I worked interacting with the high profile guests. The Island or ‘company mission’ was to deliver exacting customer service. With every day there came a new challenge from beach weddings to cocktails and theme nights. In this very diverse role I worked alongside all departments from housekeeping to gardening. ========================================== Mana Mana Resort (Bintan Island - Indonesia) winter 2002 Working as the manager for a team of 10 staff, running Fishing and diving excursions in this 4* resort. I was also responsible for teaching all the watersports lessons in Windsurfing/Surfing and Dinghy Sailing at all levels. =========================================== UK sailing Center (apprentice and training) 1995 to 1998 After leaving school I served my apprenticeship at my local sailing school. This gave me a perfect foundation for my yachting career to follow. For the first year I worked with the Boat Builder leaning GRP, Carbon layup and painting. As well as getting to understudy the Sail Maker, I learnt basic sail construction and repairs. In my spare time, I undertook Dinghy/powerboat/keelboat/surfing/windsurfing and kayaking instructor certificates. After completion I was employed on a full time basis for the following year and a half working in the UK and Barbados.
